President
Barack Obama
Well, by all accounts, President Obama’s (Non) State of the Union Address has been received very positively across party lines. I certainly liked it. For once, I have a feeling that we listened to somebody who has an understanding of complex issues, and will tackle the enormous problems we are facing with common sense pragmatism. That alone is refreshing.
The terrible state of our economy will present President Obama with an opportunity to push through major policies that are actually beneficial for the average person, not unlike FDR was able to do during a time of crisis. And if his speech is any indication, we will see some major changes, from laying the ground work for some kind of Universal Health Care, to making major progress in the areas of energy independence and education reform, to bringing combat troops home from Iraq, etc.
With his overwhelming election victory and high approval ratings, he will have the wind in his back, and a lot of big things Democrats have been wanting to do for a long time, are all of a sudden on the table. As the Republican Party with their spiritual leader Rush Limbaugh, are becoming more and more irrelevant, the public in the latest poll clearly stated that we want President Obama to lead on all issues, and the Republicans to work constructively with him and Democrats. That of course hasn’t happened so far, and my suggestion to them is just this: If you continue your ‘Just say no’ approach, you do it at your own peril, as we are very tired of it, and things are too bad out here to mess around right now. We thought we sent you a message in the last election. Just in case you didn’t get it, we will send it again in the next election…

Governor
Bobby Jindal
As for Gov. Jindal who gave the Republican response… We’ve already heard enough criticism from each side, even most conservatives, so I will just let that stand. But to suggest that the Federal Government in a time of crisis and people’s unease, and the private sector failing, has no role to play, when it is right now the only entity that can get this economy going again, is totally tone deaf. So he was a perfect representative of today’s Republican Party…..

Senator Jim Bunning
Boy, why does it seem that every time Kentucky makes national political news, it has to do with the ignorance and idiocy of one or both of our Republican Senators who unfortunately are representing the good people of Kentucky in the US Senate?
Latest example, Sen. Jim Bunning, whose mental fitness was already in question during his last re-election campaign, because of some very odd and strange behavior, now has totally gone off the cliff. In remarks over the weekend, for which he has apologized in the meantime, he affirmed his support for conservative judges by mentioning that one of the liberal judges on the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsberg is suffering from pancreatic cancer and Jim Bunning, with the charm he is known for, predicted her death before the year is out, and I quote “Ruth Bader Ginsberg suffers from cancer…bad cancer…the kind you don’t get better from…the kind you don’t live past nine months…”
First of all, has he spent the time since election day in the Kentucky Hinterlands without access to any news coverage? If so, will somebody please let him know that we have a new sheriff in town by the name of Barack Obama who is not about to appoint a conservative judge to the Supreme Court if a vacancy should open up, no matter how much the good senator from Kentucky loves conservative judges.
It is well known here in Kentucky, that Sen. Jim Bunning suffers from a lack of intellectual curiosity, and regularly displays the insensitivity of an unsophisticated putz. I guess he just can’t help himself and feels the need to prove his critics right from time to time, and his latest comment certainly fits that bill.
Now, a little bird told me that the National Republican Party is really tired of Sen. Bunning’s escapades, ineffectiveness, and questionable mental fitness, and is trying to challenge his seat with another Republican when he is up for re-election in 2010. That should make for an interesting spectacle and soap opera…
I just hope that the good people of Kentucky are finally embarrassed enough to elect a wonderful Democrat to represent us, somebody, we can actually be proud of, somebody like our Attorney General Jack Conway…

Jack Conway
KY Attorney General
And as far as Jim Bunning: He suffers from ignorance…bad ignorance…the kind you don’t get better from…

Republican Party –
Full of C**P
Okay, I’ve come to the point now, where I’m losing a little patience, watching the sad Republican theater over the past few days. It’s funny how things like spending enormous sums of money we didn’t have on ill advised tax cuts and an unnecessary war, and with it putting our nation in a horrible debt situation, didn’t quite matter that much over the past eight years. Now, that President Obama is trying to stimulate the economy and with it creating badly needed jobs, we hear whining from the very same people who were defending tax cuts and expenditures in Iraq just a few months ago. I have a word for that: Hypocrites. And I don’t know about you, but I’m allergic to them… Here’s my message to the more and more irrelevant Republican Party:
YOU LOST. DEMOCRATS WON. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA IN CHARGE. ANY QUESTIONS ??
….. That’s right! We voted for CHANGE and rejected the STATUS QUO and with it your tired old ideas! So why don’t you work on rebuilding a badly shattered party instead of whining? As of right now, your party is a regional one, mainly located in the South and even there, Democrats under the leadership of President Obama have made inroads. But the rest of the country is pretty much lost territory, and it will be even worse with the demographic changes on the horizon. If you don’t want to completely become irrelevant, show the people with your actions, that you want the best for the country, for once, by working constructively with Democrats and President Obama.
GET WITH THE PROGRAM… OTHERWISE WE WILL VOTE YOU OUT !!!
We are partly in this terrible situation because of you and the Bush administration screwing things up so badly…..

Special message to DICK Cheney who only took two weeks to now come out of his bunker criticizing President Obama: Nobody wants to hear from you or Bush ever again, so go back to your bunker and lock the door. When you warn about a fatal attack on the country while President Obama is in charge, you forgot to mention that 9/11 happened on your watch, and you were warned prior to the attack, and decided to do nothing. Just some food for thought… And in reference to you claiming a change in policies which includes getting rid of torture will cause such an attack, here’s an idea… How about the brother of a guy who has been sitting in Guantanamo for five years and being tortured; or how about Al-Qaeda being able to reconstitute in the region between Pakistan and Afghanistan because you pulled out resources there; or how about the son from Iraq whose whole family has been killed…? I think those are pretty good candidates to have ill feelings towards America…..
AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT !!!

‘We’re not sexists, we’re chauvinists–we’re male chauvinist pigs, and we’re happy to be because we think that’s what men were destined to be. We think that’s what women want.’ — Rush Limbaugh, Three-Time-Divorcee, Addict, Self-Proclaimed Chauvinist Pig, and Spiritual Leader of the Republican Party

Just when we thought that with the election of Barack Obama and the exit of George W. Bush, our good work would be over, we are being reminded, yet again, how much is still left to be done, one idiot at a time.
Case in point, Rush Limbaugh, spiritual leader of the Republican Party, three-time divorcee, addict, and self-proclaimed chauvinist pig, had to put his ignorance on public display again. At a time when we have come together as ONE to tackle all the tremendous problems we are faced with, and President Obama enjoys the support of between 70 and 80% of the population, which, I may add, includes a lot of people who didn’t vote for him, some people on the Extremist Right-Wing Nutjob Base of the Republican Party just can’t help themselves. Normal people, sensing the seriousness of these times, not only for America, but the World, want things to improve and President Obama to succeed, because it will mean improving their own lives as well. But not Rush …..
‘I WANT OBAMA TO FAIL!’ — Rush Limbaugh
….. And with that, you also want America to fail!
ARE YOU PATRIOTIC, RUSH ?
Faced with the prospect of badly needed government regulation and oversight, and a stimulus plan that will actually create jobs, the likes of Rush Limbaugh just don’t seem to get it. The lack of oversight and the ‘anything goes’ attitude were part of the reasons that got us into this mess to begin with. So, if President Obama sees the need to bring some sanity to our lives, which includes oversight and regulation, and reversing all the horrible policies of the Bush era, that’s how it’s going to be! Even normal Conservatives, who usually advocate for smaller government, understand that.
Here’s my message to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter et all:
YOU JUST GOT YOUR COLLECTIVE BUTTS KICKED, SO GET WITH THE PROGRAM !!!
Or, as President Obama said much more eloquently when being faced with griping by some Congressional Republicans in reference to his stimulus plan:
‘I WON !’ — President Barack Obama
That’s right ….. Elections have consequences ….. And thank God, in this case positive consequences, now that we have smart people in charge!
Message to Congressional Republicans: We overwhelmingly elected President Obama and want him to do what he thinks is necessary to get us out of the ditch the Bush administration, with your help, has gotten us into. If you want to continue to obstruct, we will vote you out in a heartbeat!
….. AND MESSAGE TO RUSH: TAKE ANOTHER PILL ! ….. A CHILL PILL !!! ….. AND STAY IN THE NEWS FOR A VERY LONG TIME

‘Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.’ — Abraham Lincoln

….. Of the ‘Know-Nothing, Nutjob, Racist, Ignorant, Religious-Right, Extremist’ wing of the Republican Party. After getting only a short break in the aftermath of the election not being bombarded with them on TV, here they are back again, making ‘news.’
Sarah, Sweetheart, grow up and take responsibility for your own ignorance and inaptitude instead of whining and blaming others. Everybody knows by now that you were completely unqualified for the position you were seeking and actually quite scary with your extremist views. It didn’t have to take the media to point that out, you did a pretty good job yourself.
And Joe The Plumber ….. What can be said about you that hasn’t been pointed out already? Just like Sarah, you have become a comic character. When I heard that the conservative website ‘Pajamas News’ hired you as a ‘War Correspondent’ going to Israel, I laughed so hard, almost fell off my chair.
But it was nothing compared to the nonsense coming from you, yet again, when being interviewed about it. Among other things, you obviously don’t feel in danger when you’re in the middle of an escalating conflict because you, as a Christian, have ‘special protection’ from GOD. I urge you to make that statement repeatedly in the middle of Jewish and Muslim people while you’re over there, I’m sure they’ll appreciate speaking with somebody with ‘special protection.’ I mean, you can’t make this stuff up! If it wasn’t so sad, it would be comical!
The ‘Religious and Loony Right’ has finally found their perfect poster children: Sarah and Joe. At this point I’m thinking, maybe I should suffer a little seeing them on TV, hopefully for a long time to come, out of pure self-interest. The ‘Know-Nothing’ wing will feel empowered and make it very difficult for the normal Conservatives to rebuild a shattered party.
And that’s a good thing ….. It will ensure Democratic victories for a long time to come …..
So, keep it up, Sarah and Joe!

Karl,
On behalf of millions of my fellow citizens, I want to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a job well done and a ‘Mission Accomplished.’
As everybody knows, and as it has been proven again and again in history, we Democrats are too unorganized, undisciplined, not scrupulous enough (…you name it…) to have been able to do what you almost single-handedly accomplished in just a few years. You were absolutely correct at the outset of Bush’s presidency, when you said you will be able to create a permanent Republican majority for decades to come. Funny thing happened on the way, though, …..you’ve created a permanent majority, alright, but it’s a permanent Democratic majority! Thanks to your disastrous policies, mean-spiritedness, divisiveness and incompetence, leading this country into absolute chaos, you have become every Liberal’s hero. We couldn’t have done it better ourselves. The Republican Party should consider suing you for malfeasance ….. Just a thought ….. Not that we particularly care.

Karl Rove, aka ‘Bush’s Brain’
You were the ‘Brain’ behind the 43rd President of these United States, George W. Bush, who will go down in history as one of the most incompetent and worst presidents ever, opening the way for a competent, intelligent, inclusive, first black president who will lead us out of the ditch we find ourselves in, thanks to you.
The Democratic Party sends a special Thank You message. They are very grateful to you for making this once 50/50 nation into a majority Democratic one. The Republican Party, on the other hand, has become a regional party, located in the South, and even there, the Democrats have made inroads under Obama’s leadership (see Virginia and North Carolina). The rest of the country is mainly lost territory for the Republicans and the trend with demographic shifts will favor the Democrats even more in the years to come.
As far as policies, even people who usually are not fond of government, are now calling for more government regulations and oversight (funny thing, how people change their minds when they lose jobs, health care, homes, money and dignity …..). And here is a little prediction: If and when we will get anything close to Universal Health Care in this country and with that follow other industrialized nations, the Republicans will find themselves in the political wilderness for an even longer time. And I believe we will see steps in that direction pretty soon.
All that’s left for me to do is to say
Thanks, Karl ….. For a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED !!!
From a grateful Nation!

‘We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very pro-American areas of this great nation.’ — Sarah Palin in North Carolina.

Michele Bachmann, 6th District, Minnesota, suggested on a national TV show that Barack Obama might hold ‘anti-American views’ and wanted members of Congress investigated to see whether they are ‘pro-American’ or ‘anti-American.’
I guess the pro-American areas are the rural red states with small towns and the Republicans residing there which amount to, let’s be generous here, about 30% of the population. And then the rest of us, the vast majority, are ‘anti-American, terrorist-loving, America-hating, socialists.’ Well, all right then.
Do we live in ‘Stupidistan?’ And is that located in the pro-American or the anti-American part of America?

Bill,
So, what’s the deal now? We’re getting a little ticked off at your behavior lately. What in the world are you thinking? We have defended you for years during and after the dreadful impeachment, only to see you now trying to sabotage Barack Obama’s historic candidacy?
During the primaries when you exhibited some strange behavior, you already lost some good will, do you really want to squander the rest? Despite your questionable actions during the primaries, we embraced and celebrated you at the convention when you seemed to come around but your recent statements make us wonder about your sincerity. On several occasions now you not only failed to embrace Barack Obama fully as our nominee but, when given the chance, sometimes repeatedly, to state that you thought he was qualified to be president, you basically refused to do so. Those are really actions by a small man. Believe it or not, there is room in the Democratic party for a great former and a great future president. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. And then the other day, when prompted in an interview whether you could offer the same praise to Barack Obama as you have lavished on John McCain again and again, you couldn’t get yourself to do so, again.
If you can’t show Barack Obama the respect he deserves, why don’t you go ahead and officially endorse John McCain and get it over with? Then you can hold hands with our former vice presidential candidate Joe Lieberman who has already done so and everybody will know once and for all that you’re not putting country first, but yourself, just like your new best friend John McCain.
Of course, forget about what’s left of our good will and your legacy …..

Well, in the end McCain actually did show up for the debate after all that ridiculous noise leading up to it. And when he did, it was a good thing ….. for Obama!
Okay, as for substance – Blah, blah, blah. Most people who were already sure whom they will support prior to this debate, pretty much knew where both were on the issues and knew the fundamental differences between them (i.e. McCain = Bush, Obama = not), and people who were leaning towards one or were undecided, probably won’t remember exactly what was being said by whom. What they will remember, though, is this
ONLY ONE CANDIDATE ON STAGE LOOKED PRESIDENTIAL !
And that was Obama. While both candidates certainly are able to handle the affairs as president (gosh, the bar is so low now after the past eight years), this first debate was probably the most important one for Obama as this election is all about him. People who didn’t know much about him before wanted to see whether he is this naive, radical airhead who doesn’t know anything about anything as he had been portrayed by McNasty and Co., or somebody who is in full command of the issues and whose opinions are in line with where the population is at this point. People wanted to see whether they can imagine him in the White House, being able to make rational, thoughtful, pragmatic and sometimes tough decisions for the benefit of the people, as Commander-in-Chief, and as a good representative of our country when meeting with foreign leaders (badly needed). And on all those issues Obama by far exceeded expectations. In addition, he overcame his perceived weaknesses by connecting with people, dropping his sometimes a bit professorial style by giving crisp answers that were easy to follow and to understand, and being just a very likable guy that people can feel comfortable with.
AND WE LIKE TO ELECT THE LIKABLE GUY !
As for McCain: Even though his Republican base was quite satisfied with him as he hit all the usual Republican stereotypes, I think most other people came away a little annoyed. Condescending, angry and small, that’s how I would describe his demeanor and I have a feeling that it won’t sit well with people, and early results from focus groups underline that point. When watching him, I almost had a feeling that he might be thinking “How dare this guy even stand on the same stage with me?” It showed a lot of disrespect towards somebody who like himself, is a candidate for president, and in Obama’s case after a very hard fought primary season, running the best organized campaign in the history of politics, and at this point favored to become president. So, I think a lot of people got ticked off by the lack of respect. His constant use of “naive” and “you don’t understand” fail to have an impact when the other guy shows a complete command of the issues. It would work better if you use those words with somebody where it actually applies, and I’m picking a name here at random ….. Sarah Palin. In that case, everybody would be in agreement.
DON’T DEMONIZE THE OTHER GUY IF HE’S LIKABLE, BECAUSE THAT SAYS MORE ABOUT YOURSELF THAN HIM !
Much has been made about McCain not being able to look at Obama throughout the entire debate. Now, while nobody can look into anybody’s soul, there can be two simple explanations for that. 1. Some people who demonize others can only do so without looking at that person. 2. It’s a sign of feeling inferior to the other person. In reference to the second point, I read something very interesting from somebody who has studied behavior in monkeys (I’m not making this up). According to him, lower ranking monkeys avoid eye contact with higher ranking, superior monkeys. I thought that was an interesting little fact.
Bottom line is this: Watch a clip of an exchange between those two with the volume down and just look at demeanor and body language. You don’t have to be an expert in that field to see that we will be making history big time this year with
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA !
