Just because …..

“I never married because there was no need.  I have three pets at home which answer the same purpose as a husband.  I have a dog which growls every morning, a parrot which swears all afternoon and a cat that comes home late at night.” — Marie Corelli

The Gambler And The Nut

….. A dangerous combination.

I’ve always been wary of gamblers who risk all or nothing when feeling cornered.  Sometimes it may work, often it ends up in disaster.  Whenever reading a story about somebody who gambled away a small or big fortune, I always think about how difficult it must be for the people around him to live with somebody so unbalanced because this reckless behavior most certainly will show up in other aspects of his life as well.

Watching the events of the past few weeks especially, I have come to the conclusion that John McCain seems to have a gambler’s mentality and frankly, that should scare the living daylight out of everybody watching this ongoing soap opera.  When he thought he needed a game changer in his campaign, and ended up picking Sarah Palin as his running mate, he gambled that with only a few weeks to the election, he could excite his right wing base, and at the same time fool everybody else.  Unfortunately for him his pick turned out to be so unsophisticated, unqualified and nutty, that it only took about two weeks before the majority of normal thinking people looked through that charade and her rapidly declining poll numbers reflect that.  Everybody who watched her Charlie Gibson and now Katie Couric interviews should be genuinely frightened.

The second gamble came just this week when after stumbling through ten days of economic unease, going from “The fundamentals of the economy are strong” to “If we don’t act immediately, we will have another Great Depression” and coinciding plunging poll numbers, he “suspended” his campaign (not really) and injected himself into the nearly completed compromise agreement on the bailout and with that political stunt seemingly making things worse for those very delicate negotiations.  Political grandstanding, that’s all it was.  And are you really putting “country first” or are you putting your campaign first, John?  I think you ought to drop that line, it rings rather hollow by now.  Add to all this his threat of postponing not only the first presidential debate, but also the vice presidential debate (gee, I wonder why?) and you can clearly see that

MCCAIN’S GAMBLER MENTALITY MAKES HIM COMPLETELY UNSUITABLE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE !!!

As for the nut (The Iraq war is a task from God – Getting witchcraft protection from witch hunter pastor praying over her – I can see Russia from my house …..), she speaks for herself.  And every time she does, we all should be afraid, very afraid.
