Little Secrets To Being Happy

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” — Frederick Koenig

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to be genuinely happy and wanted to know their secret?  Well, let me let you in on that little secret:  It’s a mindset and a matter of attitude.  Apply some or all of the following suggestions in your daily life and you will be well on your way to experiencing happiness from within.

HOW DO I BECOME A HAPPY PERSON?

1.  Are you ready for this one?  YOU CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY!  Most of the time people can choose what they want to be.  So why not choose to be happy?

2.  Practice random acts of kindness.  Little things ….. help somebody to cross the street, open the door for somebody, pay a compliment, visit an elderly neighbor ….. and don’t expect anything in return.  You will notice that when doing things for others, it will not only make you feel good, but it will come back to you one way or another and good things will happen in your life!

3.  Show your love, affection and appreciation to people around you.  They will usually respond in kind.

4.  Remove yourself from toxic environments as much as possible, whether it’s a job situation, a bad relationship, or a negative person who always seems to drag you down.  If it doesn’t feel good, it’s probably not good for you.

5.  Exercise ….. regularly.  Try to find an exercise that is fun for you to do.  Whether it is playing basketball with your kids, jogging in the park, taking walks, working out in a gym — it doesn’t matter what — just do it!  Besides the obvious positive effect on your physical well being, regular exercise also affects how you feel.  During physical activity, the body releases endorphins (the body’s natural painkiller) and when that happens, you experience feeling positive, relaxed and happy.  By the way — the same is true when receiving a massage or having sex.    🙂

6.  LAUGH OFTEN!

7.  Keep an open mind and learn new things.  One key to happiness is personal growth.  And how much fun it is to learn and explore new things!

8.  Find your true calling in life.  It seems to me that people who follow their passion and work in a job, have a business, or are in the creative field, reflecting their passion, are generally happy people.  If you would ask them about their work, they very likely will tell you that they don’t look at it as work because they like what they do and are passionate about it ….. and very often rewards follow.

FIVE SIMPLE RULES TO BEING HAPPY
*  Free your heart of hatred
*  Free your mind from worries
*  Live simply
*  Give more
*  Expect less
